SERIES IN ENCAUSTIC
Of Concern and Clock are two ongoing series of encaustic pieces (beeswax on wood panels), which call attention to the fragility and the beauty of the natural world.
Working with scholarly collections of flora and fauna, and aged objects, I am assembling albums of my own photographic images, which I then embed and transform onto a manipulated wax surface. The resulting encaustic piece is composed of multiple transparent layers, their depth conveying the inherent complexity of the life forms and handmade objects described.
